This is a three day workshop. Please take note of the dates and times. Pottery is a process that often requires time between steps to ensure the best possible outcomes.
April 2nd, 6-8 pm
Thursday April 4th, 6-7 pm
Monday April 8th, 6-7 pm
On the first day students will learn basic beginning skills for how to center the clay and throw and shape the bowl on the wheel. They will create the bowl and then leave it to dry for 24 hours.
On the second day they will trim and carve any designs into their bowls. The pots will then be bisque fired for glazing.
On the third day the students will glaze their bowls. The bowls will then be placed in the kiln for their final firing.
Students will receive their bowls later in the week after they have been fired and cooled.
Here’s a little bit about our pottery instructor, Aurora Lucas…straight from her!
“Jill-of-all-trades; I’m a mother of 4, wife of 1, and artist/healer/hippy in my soul! We live on a small farm with a huge garden, 7 Donkeys, 2 mini horses, 8 goats, 2 pot-bellied pigs, 2 cats, 3 dogs, and a partridge in a pear tree! I draw most of my inspiration from nature and embrace organic shapes in my pottery pieces. Wonky is wonderful!“
